At CLT Marine, sustainability is not just a concept, but a core driver of our value and performance. We are dedicated to advancing a more just, safe, and environmentally friendly maritime industry. Our goal is to become a leader in innovative and sustainable maritime logistics solutions, with a keen focus on ESG  aspects in both our operations and supply chain. Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, our efforts aim to ensure both human wellbeing and responsible corporate citizenship.

  • Empowering our Employees: We invest in robust training programs and policies focused on responsible operation, handling of hazardous materials, spill mitigation, and biodiversity protection including the North Atlantic Right Whale and other protected species.

  • Reducing Emissions: We strive to minimize local air and climate-altering emissions from our fleet. This involves using performance improvement technologies and strategies like slow steaming, low Sulphur and biofuels, maximizing asset utilization, and intelligent routing.

  • Innovative Asset Design: We are committed to designing future assets that are powered by zero or near-zero emissions energy sources, such as battery electric, green hydrogen, and renewable diesel.

  • Supporting Energy Transition: Our operations aim to facilitate the energy transition in the communities we serve by displacing higher-carbon energies with lower-carbon alternatives and supporting the offshore wind industry.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: We partner with our customers, regulatory bodies, and academic institutions to understand and mitigate the environmental impact of our operations. Our partners include environmental agencies, net zero emissions pioneers, and others.

Through these initiatives, CLT Marine is committed to leading the way in sustainable maritime logistics, ensuring our operations not only meet but exceed the standards for environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Social Responsibility

At CLT Marine, the social aspect of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program underscores our dedication to cultivating strong, ethical relationships with our workforce, partners, clients, and the communities we serve. Our approach is multifaceted, encompassing a range of initiatives that reflect our commitment to social responsibility.

  • Employee Engagement and Welfare: We prioritize the well-being and development of our employees, recognizing that they are our most valuable asset. This commitment is manifested through comprehensive training programs, career development opportunities, and a focus on maintaining a safe and inclusive work environment. We support work-life balance and offer flexible work arrangements to meet the diverse needs of our team.

  • Community Engagement and Development: Our involvement with local communities is not just about doing business; it's about making a positive impact. We engage in community programs, support local initiatives, and collaborate with stakeholders to contribute to the socioeconomic development of the regions we operate in. In New Bedford, we serve on the City’s Municipal Planning Committee and on the board of the New Bedford Ocean Cluster, a non-profit organization promoting the blue economy.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: We believe in building strong, transparent, and ethical relationships with all our stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and local communities. Our policies ensure we conduct business with integrity and respect for the diverse perspectives and needs of those we interact with.

  • Sustainable Supply Chain Practices: We are committed to responsible supply chain management, ensuring that our partners and suppliers adhere to the same high standards of social responsibility that we uphold. This commitment extends to ethical sourcing, fair labor practices, and human rights.

Through these initiatives, CLT Marine aims to demonstrate leadership in social responsibility, positively influencing not only our workforce and partners but also the broader community. Our approach to social issues is dynamic, adapting to new challenges and opportunities to continuously enhance our positive impact on society.

Governance

At CLT Marine, we are committed to maintaining a high standard of governance that aligns with the expectations of our customers and the evolving landscape of corporate responsibility. Our governance strategy is rooted in a strong code of conduct that governs the interactions of our employees and partners, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and principles of human rights.

Our approach to governance is not static but rather a dynamic and evolving process. We consider our ESG plan to be a working document, open to continual refinement and improvement. This flexibility allows us to stay in step with the best practices in the industry and ensure that our governance strategies remain consistent and compatible with those of our customers.

Employee training in ethics and compliance forms an integral part of our approach, equipping our team with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold our ethical standards. This ongoing commitment to ethical business practices reflects our dedication to transparency, responsibility, and the maintenance of trust with all our stakeholders.

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Policy

At CLT Marine, we are deeply committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We recognize that our human capital is our most valuable asset. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent of our employees is not just a vital part of our culture, but also a cornerstone of our reputation and success.

We actively embrace and encourage the diversity in our workforce. This includes differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.

Our diversity initiatives extend across all facets of our operation. This includes our recruitment and selection processes, compensation and benefits, professional development and training, promotions, transfers, social and recreational programs, layoffs, terminations, and the ongoing development of a work environment that is grounded in gender and diversity equity. This environment is one that:

  • Promotes respectful communication and cooperation between all employees.

  • Encourages teamwork and employee participation, representing diverse groups and perspectives.

  • Supports work/life balance through flexible work schedules to accommodate varying needs.

  • Encourages employer and employee contributions to the communities we serve, fostering a greater understanding and respect for diversity.

It is the responsibility of every CLT employee to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. This includes behavior during work, at work functions both on and off the work site, and at all company-sponsored events. Moreover, all employees are required to complete annual diversity awareness training, enhancing their knowledge and fulfilling their responsibility in this area.

Any inappropriate conduct or behavior against others is not tolerated and may result in disciplinary action. If employees feel they have been subjected to any form of discrimination that conflicts with our diversity policy and initiatives, they are encouraged to seek assistance from a supervisor or HR representative. At CLT Marine, we are dedicated to maintaining a workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, and included, contributing to the overall success and integrity of our company.
